Woman, 31, with chronic Lyme disease has tried everything but health officials say the illness isn't real
'It's really scary': Woman, 31, with chronic Lyme disease has tried everything from bee stings to blood cleaning to treat her seizures, pain and memory loss - but health officials say the illness isn't real

Laura MacLeod (pictured), 31, has been in and out of hospitals and through dozens of attempted to treatments to alleviate her nausea, cognitive problems, depression, aches, seizures and more that, she believes, are caused by chronic Lyme disease (left). Before the debilitating symptoms came on, Laura was living in New York, had a promising career in advertising (right) and loved to surf and globe-trot. She saw all manner of specialists who dismissed her symptoms and she herself once thought she just wasn't handling stress well - until she tested positive for the tick-borne Lyme disease in 2016. But standard treatment didn't work. Now, Laura has spent her (and her family's) life's savings on failed treatments and will go to any lengths to treat the controversial form of the disease that is not recognized by public health officials.
